\"Indiketes<\/em>\"is the name of the Iberian people who occupied the north-eastern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, the territory known today as Empord\u00e0.<\/p>

They were the descendants of the settlers of the late Neolithic and early Bronze Age, merged with the Indo-European tribes of the \"culture of the urn fields\" (Celts) who came from the other side of the Pyrenees.<\/p>

Its main settlements (oppidum) were Indika (Ullastret) and Emp\u00faries.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Route of Indiketes <\/em>invites you to discover the paths traced from prehistoric times, from the Palaeolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, passing by countless megalithic monuments (dolmens, mehirs), caves, rock shelters and sacrificial stones, villages and necropolises from different periods, ancient Greek and Roman cities, monasteries, Romanesque and pre-Romanesque hermitages and churches, abandoned medieval villages and a long etcetera of ancient constructions of all kinds that appear at every turn.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Empord\u00e0 has been a land of passage since time immemorial, starting with the Neanderthals who became extinct 35,000 years ago in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, passing through Iberians, Celts, Greeks, Romans, Visigoths, Arabs and French. And all these peoples left their mark on this territory.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

The logo of the Ruta dels Indiketes is a reflection of the rich history of this unique region. It is the figure of a horse, half land horse, half sea horse, and is the image that appears on the obverse of some Indiketes coins, minted at the mint of \"untikesken<\/em>\". The letters are in Iberian script (2nd century B.C.). <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

It had the value of a \"semis<\/em>\" Roman coin equivalent to half a \"as<\/em>\". The mint of this ancient Iberian city was the first to mint coins in the Iberian Peninsula (5th century BC).<\/p>

This anagram represents very well the Empord\u00e0 culture, the mixture between the sea and the land, the allegorical symbol of the Empord\u00e0: the shepherd and the mermaid.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
