THE TOUR OF THE EMPORDÀ BY STAGES

The Ruta dels Indiketes is the tour of the Empordà in stages through various ancient paths and trails used by the ancient Iberian inhabitants of the region - the Indiketes - with a total of 476 km that runs circularly through the two Catalan regions (Alt and Baix Empordà). It is a self-guided route in two modalities: hiking and cycling.

The Ruta dels Indiketes It runs through sea and mountain areas, passes through 3 natural parks and 3 special protection areas, enters charming villages with medieval architecture, crosses ravines, rocky areas, valleys, torrents and crosses the two main rivers of the region. It crosses wetlands and cultivated areas; it allows you to lose yourself in extensive forests of holm oak and cork oak groves and bathe in beautiful coves. It connects ancient watchtowers, lookout towers and lighthouses and leads to many of the most beautiful views of the region. It is undoubtedly the best way to discover the great natural and heritage wealth of the Empordà.

It can be started anywhere and done in any direction. For hiking, 22 stages of around 20-30 kilometers each are proposed.

As is done on the "Camino de Santiago" and elsewhere, here too participants will be given a credential that will be stamped along the route and will serve to certify that they have completed the required minimum distance of 100 kilometres if on foot and 200 kilometres by bicycle.
